Remove Troublesome Teeth With The Help Of Innova Family Dental

Are you suffering from a broken tooth or severe pain? In most cases, Dr. Kanimalla will do everything possible to help you save your natural teeth. However, teeth occasionally need to be extracted for the sake of your smile's overall health.

Do I Need an Extraction?

Tooth extraction may be recommended if:

  • Gum disease has caused a tooth to become extremely loose.
  • You have wisdom teeth that are impacted or infected.
  • Root canal treatment is not a viable option.
  • There is a significant crack or cavity that can't be repaired.
  • You're in a lot of pain or experiencing a dental emergency.

We'll take an X-ray of your tooth during your appointment to determine the degree of the damage. At that time, we'll be able to identify your smile's most pressing issues and explain your best options for addressing them.

What to Expect

The majority of dental extractions take only a few minutes. We'll wait 5-10 minutes after administering numbing medicine before removing the tooth. Each patient is given a care kit (including gauze) and specific post-operative instructions to follow. To minimize swelling, we recommend taking an anti-inflammatory pain reliever and applying a cold compress on-and-off for every 20 minutes during the first day.

If you have any concerns following your treatment, you can always contact our office.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth extractions are recommended on a case-by-case basis. During your visit, we'll take an X-ray of the area around your third molars and associated jaw structures. The removal of your third molars may be recommended based on the exam and how your wisdom teeth are positioned in relationship to the adjacent teeth.

After a Dental Extraction

Aside from wisdom teeth, having a tooth extracted creates excess space in your mouth. Other teeth may shift out of place as a result of the extra room. We recommend replacing your tooth as soon as possible to avoid issues such as crooked or crowded teeth.
